Job ID: 1065. The Web Specialist will participate in the production of specific web and online projects, with a focus on content and language. In addition to a strong attention to detail, the successful candidate will be adept at juggling multiple assignments and producing quality work under tight deadlines. The successful candidate will also have an eagerness to learn all aspects of web production, while utilizing and maintaining best practices and industry standards.
Developing information architecture
Using the content management system to build, organize, and update web pages
Contributing to the design, development, and implementation of web communications for Miami University
Assisting clients with content analysis and site organization
Providing ongoing support to departments/offices in their online marketing efforts
Assisting with CMS training
Writing and editing web pages for accuracy, clarity, and consistency
Optimizing images for web use
Assisting with the implementation of accessibility standards
Bachelor's degree in Interactive Media Studies, Technical Writing, or related field.
Strong writing background
Working knowledge of HTML
Organization skills that include a strong attention to detail and an ability to multitask
Ability to work independently and take initiative in creating new web content
Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with a broad range of campus constituencies and work as part of a cross-functional team
One to three years of experience in the maintenance of websites within higher education
Experience working with and providing guidance to graphic designers, editors, IT specialists, or related positions
Experience developing information architecture
Knowledge of 508 Accessibility standards
Demonstrated knowledge of content management systems, such as Cascade Server, Drupal, and WordPress
Demonstrated application of Google Analytics
