Miami University Department of Engineering Technology is accepting applications for a tenure track assistant/associate professor position in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology. This tenure-track position will begin in August 2016. The department offers ETAC/ABET accredited bachelor’s completion degree programs with concentrations in Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology; and associate degree programs in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology. In addition, the department offers a new bachelor’s completion degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. The department is part of the College of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences of Miami University and is based on Miami’s open-admission regional campuses in Hamilton and Middletown, Ohio.
The successful candidate will be housed on the Miami Regional Campuses and teach both laboratory and lecture-based undergraduate courses. Possible topics include all or most of the following: process control interface design, computerized instrumentation, control systems, industrial automation, dynamics and modern manufacturing systems. Courses are offered during the day, evenings and delivered by Interactive Video Distance Learning (IVDL) and synchronous web conferencing. The candidate is expected to advise new and current students, develop curriculum; actively engage in high quality research scholarship; and perform service to the department/university including outreach to businesses and industry to promote our degree programs.
Master of Science in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering, engineering technology or a related field. The successful candidate must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English. For appointment as Associate Professor candidate must have an existing record of high quality teaching, scholarship and service with at least five years of college teaching.
Strong candidates will need: Ph.D.; relevant and technologically current industry experience; Professional Engineering License; postsecondary teaching experience.
