Performs a variety of intermediate to complex administrative tasks related to personnel office operations May work in one specific area of personnel or in a cross functional role.
Serve as Personnel Technician for Graduate Assistantships processing and payroll:
Enter and maintain accurate and up-to-date graduate assistant records in the personnel, payroll and student database; review submitted documents for completeness; work with departments, as needed to finalize submission using the on-line CRM/Prospect system; prepare correspondence and appropriate documents for distribution to graduate assistants; be responsible for the Graduate Assistant (GA) budget tracking; answer routine questions regarding policies and procedures; provide assistance with projects as needed; provide general office assistance; maintain the confidentiality of all information; perform a variety of clerical tasks which may include answering phones and referring calls; assisting employees in person, typing materials, copying, and other duties as assigned. Typical duties include: extensive data entry and proofing; tracking of processes and budget; preparation and distribution of correspondence, documentation and copies; responding to inquiries; maintenance of records; incorporating process improvements.
6. Performs a variety of clerical tasks which may include answering phones and referring calls, typing materials, and copying.
Knowledge of computers and office applications including Microsoft office components, especially Excel; knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment. Periodic assignments given which entail dealing with slightly unpleasant physical conditions such as long exposure to computer monitors.
Requires 12 months of coursework or training beyond high school in business administration and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and expertise; ability to maintain confidential information required.
Knowledge of payroll procedures; experience in personnel and/or payroll setting in higher education, including a payroll database such as Banner; established record of excellent employment performance including attendance; previous experience in customer services.
