Under the supervision of the Director of Instructional Design Services and often working in small teams, this team member will work directly with faculty and staff to design, develop, and deliver technology-based courses and other educational media; exercises skills in current educational and internet technology, including major learning management systems, social media, office and multimedia software, and web development; collaborates and coordinates with IDS team members; and manages individual and group projects, particularly new on-line course development; maintains and assists in improving local standards, processes, and procedures for educational media production; develops strong, cooperative relationships with campus entities; researches and develops educational tools, technologies, practices; assesses and evaluates the appropriateness and effectiveness of technologies and educational media, as well as teaching and learning experiences; trains and mentors faculty and staff on the use of technology to enhance teaching.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in Instructional Design, Technology, Education, or a related field and one year experience related to the essential duties or equivalent education and experience totaling seven years.
Knowledge of and work-related experience in developing curriculum, educational programs, trainings, on-line courses, or educational media.
Fluency in learning theories, instructional design, program planning, andragogy, and engaged learning practices.
Working knowledge of web authoring tools (e.g. Dreamweaver), HTML, and CSS.
Demonstrable skills (such as a portfolio) in developing and delivering creative learning experiences.
Experience with decision-making in a highly active environment.
Ability to work as a team, lead small groups, and manage projects.
Ability to use computers and operating systems, such as Windows or Mac with great competence.
Ability to use a variety of distance education technologies including major learning management systems (e.g. Canvas and Moodle), social media, office and multimedia software.
Ability to plan, manage, produce, direct, implement, and evaluate training and education programs – online course production a plus.
Positive attitude and flexibility, leading to the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
