Under the direction of the Senior Director of Production and Graphics, the Art Director is the lead/chief designer for the central marketing and communications office, which serves as a full service agency to the campus. Manages a team of full and part-time designers and gives art direction for both print and digital media, including for web and interactive platforms. Direct reports include an Assistant Art Director and Assistant Director of Web and Interactive Design.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
Experience working in a higher education environment.
Intimate knowledge of best design practices and concepts.
Fluent knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design applications.
Strong knowledge of color theory, color relationships, and typography.
Strong knowledge of web design principles.
Working knowledge of web development.
Knowledge of the print production process.
Knowledge of budgeting principles.
Knowledge of higher education policies and procedures – preferred.
