The primary function of this position is to provide assistance to personnel by assessing their computer programming requirements, recommending software solutions, and designing and implementing program solutions. This position also will design and implement extensions/templates to a Content Management System (CMS) maintained by the Computer Resource Unit in coordination with the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture (VCEA) web development team.
A Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years professional experience OR a combination of education and experience totaling seven (7) years from which comparable knowledge and abilities are acquired. Education and experience may be tailored to specific need requirements of position.
Demonstrated proficiencies in high level languages such as C# and PHP, RDBMS’s such as PostgreSQL and MSSQL, scripting languages like PowerShell and Bash, and common systems programming languages like Python, C++, and PERL. Demonstrated effective listening, written and oral communication skill. Demonstrated experience giving training sessions. Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills. Ability to document software and software systems. Ability to research technical solutions and apply technical knowledge. Ability to assess computing requirements, propose alternative solutions, and make informed decisions regarding optimal solutions. Ability to learn, test and evaluate new software packages and programming languages. Ability to iteratively apply user feedback into user interface and experience enhancements. Familiarity with small iterative development life cycles.
