Detailed Job Description

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Éva Szentirmai at Washington State University (WSU) Spokane to participate in an NIH-funded project. The successful applicant will join a research program to explore how metabolism affects the function of the brain with a particular emphasis on sleep.

Required Qualifications

Highly motivated individuals should have an MD and/or PhD degree in neuroscience or related biomedical discipline, experience in basic sleep research, and strong potential for an independent research career. Excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong research background, with a record of relevant publications are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants should have a high level of independence in conducting
experiments, collecting data, and preparing manuscripts for publication. Preference will be given to creative and self-motivated candidates with experience in rodent surgical and behavioral manipulations, EEG methodology, data analysis and biochemistry/molecular biology.

Monthly Salary

Commensurate with qualifications and experience as determined by NIH guidelines

The College
The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine is dedicated to training new doctors to alleviate Washington’s physician shortage and to making the state a healthier place to live. The college expects to begin training students in the fall of 2017. Though its administration is based in Spokane, the medical school will assign students to one of four WSU clinical campuses in Spokane, the Tri-Cities, Vancouver and Everett.
