Detailed Job Description

Description of Position: The Coordinator, Child Welfare Program performs a high level of problem solving and case coordination. The Coordinator works directly under the guidance and direction of the program director. This position coordinates case assignment for 84 of the 102 counties in Illinois. Extensive travel is required.

Responsibilities of the Position: The Coordinator, Child Welfare Program will be responsible for:

  1. Assign over 1700 child cases annually to the screeners in the field
  2. Coordinate with DCFS intake coordinators, clinical screeners, Integrated Assessment supervisors, DCFS and POS permanency workers and their supervisors
  3. Monitor cases and prepare a weekly report on case progress
  4. Assist in preparing data and reports for quarterly and annual reports
  5. Attend case review meeting
  6. Provide backup for program director
  7. Participate in staff meetings, recruitment, committees, and position searches
  8. As needed, complete Integrated Assessment cases or review reports, and participate in report evaluations

Requirements: Masters degree in Social Work. Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Illinois for a minimum of five years. Ten years professional experience working in child welfare. Three years' experience completing Integrated Assessments and/or reviewing Integrated Assessment Reports.

Appointment: This is a full-time term appointment through June 30, 2016. Contingent upon available funding, reappointment may be possible. Position will be based out of SIU Carbondale campus and requires extensive travel.

Effective Date of Employment: As soon as possible.
