This faulty position designs and teaches assigned courses in all levels of Ballroom Dance technique, theory, teaching methods, and choreography. Also choreographs, directs, and mentors students in Ballroom Dance performing groups.
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in Dance or closely related field.
Five years teaching experience in ballroom dance and experience in directing Ballroom Dance formation teams.
Experience and knowledge in all levels of Ballroom Dance choreography, theory, and technique, including International Style and American Style, and core courses.
Experience with student participation, supervision, and coordination of competitive Ballroom Dance events.
Experience in dance production and performances.
Skills and experience in planning and coordinating tours and student travel.
Skills in planning and working within a budget.
Ability to keep abreast of new development trends and techniques through participation in workshop seminars, actual work experience, and exchange programs with business and industry to maintain skills, state of the art, and knowledge.
