Under the direction of faculty lab coordinator and central stockroom manager, works with students to improve their laboratory techniques and research skills and improve current and develop new laboratory experiences. Teaches lower-division classes or labs, coordinates and manages lower division lab classes, and manage teaching supplies.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Master’s degree in an area of expertise commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position; OR, a related combination of education and experience totaling six years.
A Masters degree in Chemistry or closely related field.
Knowledge in effectively teaching in laboratory setting.
Demonstrated knowledge in the correct and proper chemistry laboratory technique, including safety techniques.
Skills in preparing solutions of known concentrations, standardize solution concentrations.
Skills in preparing for laboratory exercises by gathering or making all required solutions and ensuring the equipment used available and in working order.
Must be able to manage other laboratory instructors and hourly assistants.
Must be able to maintain a chemical stockroom inventory.
Must be able to collaborate and work with others in a team environment including faculty, colleagues, and students.
