This position is responsible for supporting public relations activities for the WSU Viticulture & Enology Program. This individual works in close coordination with the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) Communications unit, the CAHNRS Office of Alumni and Development, WSU Tri-Cities Advancement and Community Engagement Development, the Washington State Wine Commission, and the Washington wine industry to organize and develop internal and external public relation functions, which includes news releases, feature stories, routine web updates, program materials, and alumni communications. Additionally, the position will be responsible for the successful coordination and execution of signature events that foster awareness of the VE Program. The events will include the VE partnership with the largest wine auction in Washington, education and extension events including the VE Certificate Program, and other events as assigned. All public relations activities will be performed in coordination with CAHNRS, WSU Tri-Cities, and the Washington grape and wine industry to ensure the successful advancement and implementation of strategic communication, marketing, and development priorities for the VE Program.
A Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing or other relevant field AND two (2) years of professional experience in print OR broadcast news media, public relations, marketing including the use of electronic media or two (2) years of other relevant professional experience.
Experience in Higher Education or an institutional environment.
Experience with photography.
Proven ability to meet deadlines.
