Designs, implements, and administers enterprise-level applications related to the information technology physical infrastructure. Assists in the management of data center operations, including PDU power management. Develops and maintains utility and fiber mapping, as well as documentation of fiber optics and blue stakes. Manages network access control system and its integration with campus networks.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field plus three years of work experience in IT or a combination of education and experience in a related field totaling seven years.
Career Ladder Statement:
This is a Career Ladder position and will be placed at one of the following levels depending on qualifications:
Level 1: Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field plus one year of related experience. Prefer at least six months experience related to the administration and maintenance of enterprise-level IT systems or any combination of education and experience totaling three years.
Level II: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling four years.
Level III: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field; plus one year of work experience administering and maintaining of enterprise level IT systems; or any combination of higher education and work experience totaling five years related to Information Technology, three of which must be directly related to the development, support, administration and maintenance of enterprise level IT systems.
Knowledge of underground facilities laws and regulations.
Fiber optic knowledge.
Knowledge of database languages, such as SQL, PL/SQL, MySQL, etc. Knowledge of Active Directory and LDAP directories.
Knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN or NAS.
Knowledge of load balancing, clustering, and caching procedures and processes.
Customer service skills.
Project management skills.
Skills and expertise in TCP/IP and in software/network technologies, protocols, and operating systems.
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems and to research technical issues. Ability to work in a customer service, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
