Responsible for the Direction and management of the Goggin Ice Center skate/pro shop operations to include the development and implementation of all policies & procedures.  Direct all over the counter customer service, inventory control, purchasing of merchandise mix and equipment needs to ensure the health and wellbeing of all staff and patrons.

Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Required to perform duties with limited supervision and will be required to make significant independent decisions.
  • Directs and develops ongoing policies and procedures for customer service and retail operations with emphasis on current risk management for public skating and other special events.
  • Conducts daily safety assessments of facilities, vehicles, supplies and equipment and takes appropriate action.
  • Direct the recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating skate/pro shop full time and student staff.
  • Responsible for all skate/pro shop computer hardware and software used to manage sales, inventory, purchases, deliveries and sales clerk banks.
  • Coordinate credit card, MULA, Banner and Bursar charges.
  • Direct the purchasing of all Pro Shop “merchandise mix” working with University Bookstore management to place orders via university procedures and retail compliance of contracts, sponsorships, including all ICA programs.
  • Direct and develop sales, specials, etc. to meet the needs of all special events.
  • Direct and develop special order procedure for Skating and Hockey equipment orders.
  • Direct and develop monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to account for all financial records related to retail sales, inventory control, purchasing, incomes and expenses.
  • Direct all deliveries of merchandise, maintain inventory with use of software and establish backup systems.
  • Direct the assigning, issue, maintain/clean, and repair equipment, supplies, lockers, etc., for participants in Ice Center activities.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory control system to provide for the custody and control of Ice Center equipment and supplies, etc. 
  • Coordinate all 1st Aid CPR and Bloodborne Pathogen staff training, assist with 1st Aider/supervisor training.
  • Assist with facility management coverage, answering telephones, payroll entry, customer needs, departmental special events,program registrations, ice rental requests, etc.
  • Establish working relationships with individuals, other university departments, agencies, vendors and groups that further enhance the customer service mission of the Goggin Ice Center.
  • Attend regional and national conferences/meetings.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  •   Direct and functional supervision of 2-3 full time classified staff, along with 25-35 student staff, with a total equivalent of 7-8 fulltime employees.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Successful sales and/or management experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in related recreational fields.
  • Employment for this position is contingent upon providing a set of fingerprint impressions and satisfactorily completing a criminal records check.
  • CPR/1st aid certification or ability to obtain certification upon hiring.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail sales experience and knowledge as it relates to inventory control, point of purchase, etc.
  • Experience working in a University environment.
  • Experience with or current knowledge of ice hockey and ice skating equipment & apparel.
  • Graduate degree in related field
