Frostburg State University, Department of Communication, seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor of Mass Communication position to begin Fall 2016. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits package. 

With approximately 170 majors and anticipating continued growth and program expansion, the Mass Communication Program and FSU-TV3 reside in the state-of-the-art Gira Center for Communications and Information Technology opened in 2014. Responsibilities: Teach four Mass Communication courses per semester. Primary teaching assignments may include introduction to mass communication, mass communication theory, research methods, current issues and new technologies in mass communication, media management/sales, or other courses depending on departmental needs and candidate qualifications. Also contribute in areas of video/audio production, writing for electronic media, and/or electronic media aesthetics and criticism. Duties will include student advising, professional development activities, and service to the Department, College, and community.

Minimum Qualifications: ABD in Mass Communication or closely related field with documentation of significant progress toward completion of degree may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor. Successful candidate must demonstrate potential for teaching excellence. New doctoral candidates are encouraged to apply. 

Preferred Qualifications: Earned Ph.D. in Mass Communication or closely related field preferred and required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
