Detailed Job Description

The Recruiting Specialist is responsible for building relationships with prospective students, parents, educators, school districts (public, private), organizations (e.g. homeschool), professional associations and any others in need of educational opportunities through UA Early College.

Additional Department Summary:

Position will maintain an office in the University of Alabama Gadsden Center. Position will recruit UA Early College students in east and north AL, as well as targeted areas of GA and TN. The Recruiting Specialist is responsible for building relationships with prospective students, parents, educators, school districts (public, private), organizations (e.g. homeschool), professional associations and any others in need of educational opportunities through UA Early College. Employee must be willing and able to travel in-state and out-of-state, including overnight travel and travel to remote locations. Travel reimbursement is provided per University policy.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, public relations, marketing, communications, education, counseling or related field with a minimum of one (1) year of equivalent experience in student recruitment, university admissions, public relations, marketing, communications, education, counseling or equivalent experience; OR a bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in student recruitment, public relations, marketing, communications, education, counseling or equivalent experience. Student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered. To be considered student experience, it must be detailed in the employment section on the application.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

The ability to travel alone across the southeastern United States, sometimes overnight, up to 4 days per week; an interest in working with young people. Some evening and weekend work. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Skills and Knowledge:

Bachelor's degree in business, public relations, marketing, communications, education, counseling or related field with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in student recruitment, university admissions, public relations, marketing, communications, education, counseling or equivalent experience; OR a bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in student recruitment, public relations, marketing, communications, education, counseling or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills. Poise, and ability to relate to young people, parents, and educators. Ability to work with different cultures and groups of people. Must be a self-starter, work independently, and utilize critical thinking skills. 56 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 29120.04 Midpoint - $ 40767.96
