The IT Technical Specialist II performs a broad scope of professional IT activities requiring experienced, professional knowledge and application of IT principles, practices and procedures. Usually requires evaluation, originality or ingenuity.
Additional Department Summary:
The Communications IT Specialist performs a broad scope of professional IT-related communication activities requiring experience, professional knowledge, and application of IT and online media and design skills, practices, and procedures. These activities include website and intranet development and maintenance, video recording and editing, and some educational IT activities, including the use of technologies to advance teaching and learning. This position will assume responsibility for developing, designing, maintaining, and keeping current the online, web, social media, intranet, and video presence of the College of Community Health Sciences, with oversight from the Assistant Director of Communications, and will assist the College, on a limited basis, in its educational IT efforts. This position is responsible for managing, maintaining, designing, and supporting the College's websites, intranet, and social media presence. The position is responsible for conceptualizing, recording and editing videos and other multi-media projects that highlight the College and its various programs and achievements, as well as filming and editing the College's lectures and posting all videos to the College's websites.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher and 1 year of experience in a relevant IT field (Student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered), OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, education and/or certification from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been obtained. Knowledge of intermediate programming, networking, system, multimedia or instructional technology skills. May require intermediate level training or certification.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in web communications – building and maintaining websites, ensuring security at the application level, including knowledge of valid HTML, CSS, webpage editors, and content management systems. An understanding of the technology that supports internet and intranet communication. Knowledge of and skills in programming and networking. Basic video recording and editing skills, and working knowledge of imaging editing software. An interest and ability in various aspects of current technology and computers as they relate to communications activities. Extensive working experience with Mac computers, Microsoft Office products, and related software. Graphic design and writing skills. Ability to clearly convey messages through web communications, videos, and multi-media.
