The Department of Advertising and Public Relations (A+PR) at The University of Alabama seeks an experienced public relations professional to join our nationally recognized program as a full-time clinical faculty member.
The responsibilities of this full-time faculty position will be allocated to teaching, advising, and service as internship coordinator. The successful candidate will have primary teaching responsibility in Public Relations Writing and the possibility of also teaching Public Relations Campaigns or Advertising and Public Relations Management. The successful candidate will advise/assist current A+PR students in course selection, help them build their degree plans and provide internship guidance as the A+PR Internship Coordinator, particularly as these activities lead to timely degree completion and students’ individual career aspirations.
Other responsibilities include engagement in appropriate service activities, including building relationships with the professional public relations and advertising communities at the local, regional, national, and international levels and tracking internship and job placements. Finally, applicants must display an ability to be an actively engaged member of a highly collaborative faculty team.
The ideal candidate for this position at the Instructor level will have a master’s degree in PR or a related field, professional public relations experience and demonstrated teaching ability. It is also possible for this to be a Lecturer position for which the requirements would include a BA in PR or a related field and extensive professional public relations experience.
There is flexibility concerning the start date of the appointment with the earliest start date coinciding with the beginning of the spring semester in early January 2016. It is also possible to begin the appointment at the beginning of the fall semester, August 16, 2016. As this is a clinical/contract position, it is renewable on a three-year basis subject to annual review and departmental needs.
