Detailed Job Description

Provides independent, routine safety consultation services including onsite visits to businesses and industries in Alabama. Requires regular overnight travel (including some out-of-state travel).

Required Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, safety science, industrial management, public health, physical sciences, education or a closely related academic area with specific relevance to the field of occupational safety with a minimum of two years of diversified safety experience in a variety of industrial settings; OR a master's degree or higher in engineering, safety science, industrial management, public health, physical sciences, education or a closely related academic area with a minimum of one year of occupational safety experience. Excellent written, oral and inter-personal communication skills. Basic skills in the use of personal computers. Able & willing to travel to remote, out-of-town locations within the state using a personal vehicle for at least three days per week (to include overnight stays) with travel reimbursement per University policy. Have a valid U.S. driver's license and a privately owned vehicle for transportation. Willing to take medical exams periodically, if & when necessary, as required by OSHA regulations. Able to do significant standing & walking daily, lifting equipment of up to 50 pounds, prolonged driving , and climbing usually three times per week. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Must be willing and able to travel out-of-state, including overnight stays, primarily for training purposes.

Preferred Qualifications:

A working knowledge of OSHA safety and health regulations is desirable, especially as related to OSHA 21 (d) Consultation Program. 57 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 32614.44 Midpoint - $ 47299.20
