JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree in Management of Information Science required, Master’s degree, preferred. • A minimum of five years of experience in a leadership role, required. • Experience in higher education, required. • Local candidate, preferred. JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/ETC.: • Remain knowledgeable about current technologies applicable to the academic and administrative needs of a small University. • Actively pursue the needs of all campus constituents, prioritize those needs in terms of cost and benefit, and organize the resources of the department and other providers to implement solutions. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Policies and Standards • Set and maintain all relevant policies and procedures for supplied services, e.g Acceptable Use policy, Email Use, etc. Architecture • To determine the most effective architecture for all services within the framework of open and generally accepted standards. • Architecture should be flexible enough to adapt to all relevant internal and external requirements. • Elements of data protection and business continuity are absolute priorities. • Application recommendations and appropriate licensing levels are determined in concert with end user champions. IS Staff and Resources • Staffing skills and capacity are determined by policy and architectural requirements. Ensure that staff resources are available and trained to meet the technical needs of the University. • Define the long term planning for services after conferring with the University community. • Prepare a detailed annual budget in accordance with the policies and procedures initiated by the Business Office and monitor the budget to ensure that all expenditures remain within its approved constraints. Vision (technical leadership, long term strategy, business intelligence) • The CIO must remain aware of the University’s business, at all levels, and identify opportunities for the prudent use of technical resources. Participate in relevant campus committees.
