Job Summary

The Associate Director of Employer Relations will create and manage collaborations with new and existing employer partners for recruitment opportunities for Skidmore students and alumni, and create systems, processes and initiatives that will support this work. This position reports to the Executive Director of the Career Development Center and supports both internship and employment opportunities. The Associate Director will work with staff, faculty, students, parents, and alumni to identify career fields of interest and develop opportunities accordingly.

Responsibilities:
  • Build successful relationships with employers, parents, and alumni in targeted industries and organizations

  • Develop employment and internship opportunities for students and alumni

  • Grow and manage the newly-created Skidmore Dedicated Internship Postings

  • Research employment areas and specific employers that correspond to the career interests of Skidmore students

  • Make a number of site visits each year to prospective or existing employers to better connect, learn the businesses and look for new ways to bring opportunities back to our campus.

  • Create unique and customized recruitment initiatives with employer partners

  • Market and promote recruiting opportunities to students and alumni

  • Participate in Career Development Center's strategic planning initiatives

  • Manage all aspects of career fairs, on-campus recruitment, and employer information sessions

  • Review employment trends and develop outreach, services, and initiatives in congruence with these trends

  • Create and maintain an ongoing database of employer partners and prepare reports and metrics as needed, and manage the maintenance of the center's employment database

  • Facilitate brief workshops for students regarding specific opportunities

  • Assess programs and create strategies for future engagement
 

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree. Experience in employer relations, human resources, alumni relations, recruiting, executive search or a related field. Preferred experience and demonstrated success in developing and stewarding relationships with a wide variety of constituencies  

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with a Liberal Arts environment. Demonstrated skills in relationship building with exceptional communication skills (oral and written). Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Access. Willingness to travel; some evening and weekends required. Experience with social media.
