BIOLOGY LECTURER - JOB #2335
The Biology Lecturer position is a 9-month, non-tenure-track faculty position with an anticipated start date of January 5, 2016. This position requires effective teaching, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The successful candidate will provide lecture and laboratory instruction for biological science courses, for example, Biology I, Environmental Science, and Marine Science, with the possibility of day, evening, and online teaching assignments. In addition, the lecturer will prepare course plans and materials, effectively deliver subject matter content, monitor student attendance and progress, support activities that foster retention, perform assessment of student learning outcomes, and take part in other service and professional development activities as appropriate. This position reports to the Principal, Collegiate High School.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in one of the Biological Sciences or a State of Florida Teaching Certificate for grades 9-12 in Biology, Marine Science, and Environmental Science and a bachelor’s degree. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer high school teaching experience; online teaching experience; knowledge and use of innovative teaching methods and applications of technology; experience using student outcomes assessments to improve teaching and learning; knowledge of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) for science; and knowledge of criteria and general guidelines, review procedures, and benchmark specifications for Biology 1 End-of-Course Assessment Test.
SALARY RANGE: $32,251.00 - $38,251.00 for 9-month contract. (Entry level salary is computed and based on authority of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.)
