Detailed Job Description

Berklee College of Music invites applications for the positions of two full-time faculty in the Composition Department. Teaching duties will include courses in music theory, composition, counterpoint, and orchestration, along with areas of the candidate’s specializations. Service to the College includes academic advising, office hours, committee assignments, curriculum development, and other duties as assigned. Both positions are 9-month full-time faculty positions with renewable contracts, initial appointments to begin September 1, 2016. Compensation and rank is commensurate with professional experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters Degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Works performed by professional ensembles
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work within a diverse faculty and student body
  • Classroom teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completed Doctorate in composition, or related subject
  • Innovative ideas about the teaching of music composition and theory
