Learning Design

The eLearning Developer is a high impact position within Saint Leo University’s Learning Design organization. The candidate will support learning initiatives by bringing key skills in web design, content development, and learning management interaction.

This position works on a team with other designers and course development specialists and reports to the Assistant Director of Instructional Design.

Basic Function:

  • Partners with subject matter experts to develop appropriate learning paths for students (or other constituents).
  • Designs for a variety of modalities including fully online, hybrid, video conferencing, Competency Based Learning, etc.
  • Tailors the instructional strategy for a numerate, business and technology savvy audience of stakeholders.
  • Interviews and works closely with subject matter experts to extract core content and build effective learning programs that are both dynamic and measurably effective.
  • Creates high quality eLearning experiences including exercises, role plays, business cases, simulations, instructor guides, student guides and job aids as needed.
  • Consults around and technologically creates competency assessments and instructional collateral that will ultimately lead to a scaffolded learning experience.
  • Manages multiple learning projects simultaneously.
  • Designs and develops dynamic instructional interactions and simulations to create interactive, engaging course content.
  • Ensures learning and performance objectives are appropriate to the audience roles and that the learning materials meet the learning and performance objectives.
  • Uses eLearning tools such as Articulate, Camtasia and Brainshark to create interactive, SCORM compliant web based training deliverables.
  • Uses HTML, HTML5, FLASH, and other web based platforms to deliver engaging content and assessment.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in creating courses for student audiences
  • Experience in creating eLearning courses across multiple modalities
  • Knowledge of adult web design and adult learning principles and best practices
  • Experience interacting with an LMS
  • Adept with appropriate development tools
  • Enjoys working in a fast paced changing environment; ability to be flexible and resilient
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize effectively

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal education in eLearning development and design is preferred.
  • PMP certification is preferred
  • Experience creating courses for global, non-English-speaking audiences is preferred
