This position has responsibility for planning, organizing and managing, resources for Youth N’ Action for the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR) Peer Initiative Programs, a division of the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). Youth N’ Action is a statewide youth advocacy program for youth-at-risk ages 14-24 who are transitioning among programs in the service of care network.
The position provides leadership for Youth N’ Action through: youth leadership development, advocacy, peer support, and outreach. The YNA Program Manager will assess YNA needs and develop work plans and outcome measures to carry out YNA activities.
This position manages the day-to-day program operations and provides supervision to youth leaders and outside entities regarding functions of the program. Works in collaboration with the Office of Consumer Partnerships the System of Care (SOC),and DBHR and other family/youth outreach programs.
Will exercise independent judgment and discretion in work directly related to policy and business operations, interpreting, reviewing and applying program specific policies, procedures, and practices.
The YNA Program Manager is responsible for being organized and fiscally responsible. Budgeting and projecting costs of projects, as well as operating within those budgets is a key component of this position.
This position involves significant travel, anywhere from 50% to 75% of the time. The YNA Program Manager will model ethical leadership while on travel representing WSU and YNA.
The YNA Program Manager is responsible for controlling program operations, allocating resources when needed, and program results. Must exercise independent judgment and discretion in work directly related to policy and business operations. At times the YNA Program Manager will have delegated authority to make commitments that affect department operations.

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
WA Certified Peer Counselor.
Demonstrated experience in promoting the success and achievement of students from diverse cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds.
Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people, including peers, university and school administrators, faculty, and staff, students and parents, and the general public.
Knowledge of community, educational and social service resources in the community of Washington State.
