Detailed Job Description

The Summer Programs Enrollment Marketing and Communications Assistant plays a crucial supporting role to the Enrollment & Communications Manager in order to design and execute the significant breadth of social media efforts identified as a necessary support to the enrollment goals of the Office of Summer Programs, as well as the dissemination of materials mailed to Summer Programs Applicants throughout the recruitment cycle.


Under the broad supervision of the Enrollment & Communications Manager, the Summer Programs Enrollment Marketing and Communications Assistant manages the entire social media output of the Summer Programs area designing and disseminating content through the various channels for the annual cycle which peaks during the summer enrollment period. The Enrollment Marketing and Communications Assistant is also responsible for conducting, collecting and reporting of student and parent surveys for all of the Summer Programs. In addition the position is responsible for assimilating all content for enrollment print materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Oversee Summer Programs presence on all Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Vine, Pinterest, Tumblr) 
  • Supervise Content Creators (3 students)
  • Create original Summer Programs content (videos, images, articles, infograms)
  • Oversee Facebook Groups for registered students (1,183 active participants. 40% of all applicants)
  • Represent the department at College-wide Social Media meetings
  • Work with over 20 program directors to push Summer Programs faculty related content through social media channels.
  • Design, disseminate, compile and report on surveys to parent and student groups for all programs.
  • Oversee print content communications for registered students including:
    • Welcome postcards
    • The Five-Week Handbook
    • Registration booklets for all programs
    • Develop online communications for registered students
    • Registration Email/Next Steps
    • Monthly newsletters for each program
    • Cooridinate check-In Emails for each program
  • Work with Bursar's Office, Housing Office, and Scholarship Office to align voicing and messaging across departments.
  • Prepare Email for:
    • Billing reminders
    • Housing letters and reminders
    • Scholarship application/Awards 
  • Maintain the Five-Week Program content page on Berklee.edu to ensure up to date pertinent information for enrolled students and their families.


Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Answer phone/email inquiries from registered and prospective students. Requires evening hours.
  • Represent the Office of Summer Programs at Events, fairs, etc.
  • Process and distribute Check-In material for all programs
  • Conduct focus groups during programs and prepare reports for departments and directors.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Other Information or Comments

The Enrollment Marketing and Communications Assistant will perform oversight of the social media initiatives that are considered vital for the growth of the enrollment of Berklee Summer Programs. The annual enrollment of around 3,000 students comprises over 20 programs amassing over 4,000 applications. The efforts of the enrollment assistant will complement the other considerable marketing efforts of the area and allow Summer Programs to actively recruit students for the school on social media where this cohort overwhelmingly interacts. It will encourage an alumni bond that is vital to recruitment for Berklee’s undergraduate programs and beyond. Berklee summer programs are vital to the college’s overall enrollment objectives and revenue goals. Around 30% of any entering fall class includes students who will have attended one or more summer program.

Required Skills

  • Active and proficient in multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Vine, Pinterest, Tumblr).
  • Proficient in the use of computer technology across Mac & PC desktop technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication, and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills. 
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop & maintain effective working relationships with individuals & organizations reflecting a broad range of identities, perspectives & experiences.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Background/training in Marketing and Communications preferred.
  • Familiarity with creating digital and editing HTML content. 
  • Knowledge of current marketing and advertising trends in various mediums including but not limited to print and the web.
  • Background in music preferred.
  • Some travel may be required
