Professor of Practice

The Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of San Diego invites applications for a non-tenure track Professor of Practice in public administration and public policy.  Candidates must have a Master’s degree or PhD in political science, public administration, public policy, or a closely related field, teaching experience at the community college or university level, practical experience in local or state government, and the capacity to integrate theory with practice.

The successful candidate must be qualified to teach courses in American politics, urban politics, public policy, and/or state and local government.  The teaching load is seven courses per academic year, which includes one internship class each semester. In addition, the candidate will supervise our continuously offered Washington, D.C. internship program and run a 1-unit weekend Sacramento seminar each spring semester.

As a Professor of Practice, the successful candidate must have extensive local, state, and/or national political, legal, and business connections, and will supervise the department’s dynamic internship program, including the department’s Washington DC internship and seminar program.  Responsibilities will include developing new internship opportunities, to further enhance our students' professional development.
