The College of Pharmacy, Washington State University (WSU) is seeking to hire (1) full-time, annual, non-tenure track, 12 month appointment for an individual as a Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy.
This position will be located in Yakima, WA on the Pacific Northwest University (PNWU) campus.
The successful candidate will teach in the second professional year laboratory courses and serve as a clinical guide in pharmacy classes. Opportunities to practice in a clinical or community rotation site with supervision of residents or advanced pharmacy practice students may also be pursued and is encouraged.
This appointment is a one year renewable appointment beginning spring 2016 although no later than July 1, 2016.
Individuals with a strong commitment to an academic career and an interest in teaching innovative practice models are encouraged to apply. The faculty candidates are expected to contribute scholarly work in their area of clinical expertise and support the college through participation in service related activities according to the College’s promotion guidelines.
Candidates must possess a PharmD and have residency training in one of the following areas: general pharmacy practice, ambulatory care, internal medicine or family medicine. Equivalent training and/or experience will be considered. Eligibility for Washington pharmacist licensure required.
Candidates must possess or be able to obtain at the time of hire, blood borne pathogen training, BLS for healthcare providers, APhA immunization certificate, CITI training as well as the mandatory trainings needed for WSU and PNWU.
The College of Pharmacy
The College of Pharmacy is located on Washington State University’s Health Sciences campus in Spokane. The College occupies several buildings of the campus including in the new Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences Building, a 125,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art research and educational facility, which offers many collaborative research opportunities.
The WSU College of Pharmacy was founded in 1891, and has been accredited since 1912. We are a graduate and professional education college. Our main degree programs include the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PhD).
The College relocated from Pullman to the WSU Health Sciences campus in Spokane in December 2013, but has been heavily involved in the Spokane health care community since the 1970s through our internships, experiential rotations, and pharmacy residency programs. We currently have over 500 student pharmacists and graduate students, and about 2,950 alumni. As of 2015, the WSU College of Pharmacy is ranked 21st out of 138 pharmacy schools in the country according to QS World University Rankings.
The WSU Health Sciences campus in Spokane houses the main office of the Department of Pharmacotherapy. The department supports WSU-affiliated residency programs at clinical sites in Spokane, Yakima, and Wenatchee and also supports the PharmD program at the satellite campus in Yakima. The department integrates Yakima’s clinical faculty members into all aspects of the college including involvement in team taught courses and precepting students during their advanced practice experiences. The WSU Doctor of Pharmacy program in Yakima offers students the unique experience of sharing a small campus with the medical students in the Pacific Northwest University (PNWU) Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program.
