One Tenure Track Position Opening in Foods and Nutrition at Central Michigan University, Department of Human Environmental Studies.
The Foods and Nutrition area is seeking an assistant professor for appointment beginning August 2016. This is a ten month, full time, position in Foods, Nutrition, Dietetics, Agriculture, Food Sustainability, Food Systems, International Nutrition, Nutrition Informatics, Food Policy or Related Disciplines. Salary is commensurate with experience. Central Michigan University offers a comprehensive benefits package.
The general responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
1. Teach on-campus or online courses in an ACEND-accredited dietetics program and nutrition minor program as needed.
2. Provide administrative duties and service to the Foods and Nutrition area, the department, college and university. Provide assistance with the development of new majors and minors for the Foods and Nutrition area.
3. Advise undergraduate students in both majors and minors.
4. Develop focused research and scholarly activities in the area of specialization of the candidate, which include an established research agenda, publication in peer reviewed journals, and the acquisition of external grants or other funding to support the research agenda.
5. Demonstration of excellence in teaching.
Requirements: The position requires one of the following areas of expertise in addition to Foods and Nutrition: Dietetics, Agriculture, Food Sustainability, Food Systems, International Nutrition, Nutrition Informatics, Food Policy or Related Disciplines. Doctorate or ABD will be considered. Consideration of ABD is feasible with completion of the doctorate within a one year period of hire.
A. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, administrative skills, and proven research competence, as evidenced by publication in peer reviewed journals, external grant acquisition and other items which show competence in these areas.
B. Demonstrated excellence in teaching as evidenced by student evaluations.
A. Registered Dietitian Status Preferred (RD, RDN)
B. Technological competence in educational frameworks as evidenced by student evaluations.
The Foods and Nutrition area is housed in the Department of Human Environmental Studies in the College of Education and Human Services. The Foods and Nutrition area houses an undergraduate major in Dietetics, an undergraduate minor in Nutrition, an accredited Dietetic Internship, a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, and a Graduate Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics. The undergraduate Dietetics major serves approximately 115 undergraduate students, the Nutrition minor serves 140 undergraduate students, the Dietetic Internship serves 20 interns, and the Master’s Program serves approximately 140 graduate students.
