Frostburg State University, Office of Disability Support Services, invites applications for the full-time, exempt Director of Disability Support Services position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits package.
Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and review disability-related policies and procedures with other offices to facilitate access and enhance functional learning for students with disabilities and to ensure University compliance with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Evaluate documentation of disability to determine student eligibility and appropriate accommodations; coordinate/provide accommodations and supports for students with disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Counseling, Educational Psychology, Rehabilitation, or related field. At least two years of work experience in higher education or equivalent experience in the field of disability support services. Training and/or expertise in psychological and educational assessment related to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the ADA. Strong oral and written communication, organizational, and budget management skills.
Preferred Qualifications: At least one year of experience providing disability support services in a higher education setting including teaching, counseling, and/or advising students with disabilities. Proficiency with administering and/or interpreting psychological assessment instruments. Education, training, and/or experience with adaptive technology for students with disabilities. Familiarity with policy and program development.
Other: Any combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in a related field and progressively responsible related work experience may be considered.
