Detailed Job Description

Kent State University at Ashtabula offers the only Associates degree in Enology and Viticulture in Ohio. This full-time, nine month, non-tenure track position, with options for summer assignments, is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with both teach and wine industry experience. Teaching load may include classed in Enology, Wine and Must Analysis, Winery Equipment Operation, Wine Microbiology and Field Work Supervision.

The successful candidate will teach in the area of wine production and operations, as well as, develop and maintain close relationships with grape and wine industry stakeholders, the university community and public.

A Master’s degree in Food Science, Fermentation Science, Enology or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution is required. In addition to effective teaching, the successful candidte is expected to complete tasks on time and work collaboratively with faculty, staff and industry representative on a local, state and national level. 
Industry experience in wine production operations and mangement is preferred. Especially, strong candidates also possess an understanding of Viticulture and Wine Sensory. Preference will be given to candidates with distance learning experience. Some regional and national travel may be required.
