Assistant Professor of Music, Full Time Tenure-Track, Director of Opera Theatre.
Direct the Opera Theatre program, including at least one major production or opera scenes annually. Provide studio voice instruction to music majors and minors, and to music theatre students. Teach class voice and other courses as related to background and experience. Maintain visibility as a performer and/or director, and as a teacher. Work in active partnership with the music faculty to recruit and retain students. Advise students, participate in scholarly professional activities, and perform Department, University, and community service. Perform other duties as assigned.
All but dissertation (“ABD”) in Music; or a Master’s degree in Music plus significant local recognition.
Doctorate in Music with an emphasis in voice or opera theatre, or a Master’s degree in Music with an emphasis in voice or opera theatre plus significant regional recognition. Demonstrable success as an opera director and/or vocal performer within the past two years. Ability to teach in a secondary area. Successful college teaching experience. Evidence of a strong record in outreach to and retention of students of color, and demonstrated community engagement experience (e.g., outreach to K-12 schools, community partnerships, service learning, etc.).
