Detailed Job Description

Frostburg State University, College of Business, seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor of Accounting for its Department of Accounting. This position is available to begin Fall 2016 at the main campus in Frostburg, Maryland. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications; University System of Maryland benefits package included.

Responsibilities: Teaching a variety of courses in areas of Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting with an initial assignment to teach Tax Accounting and Introductory Financial Accounting at the undergraduate level and supervise the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program. Future assignments may include teaching at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown and/or teaching online at the MBA level.

Frostburg State University’s College of Business is AACSB accredited and values teaching, scholarly contribution, and service. The College of Business has a growing reputation for addressing the rapidly changing landscape of business through global experiential learning. While the College’s primary focus is teaching, maintenance of academic qualifications includes peer-reviewed scholarly research and other productivity in the area of Intellectual Contribution. Service activities to the College including student advising and committee assignments are expected.

Minimum Qualifications: ABD candidates with a firm completion date will be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor. Previous teaching experience and evidence of scholarly work required.

Preferred Qualifications: Professional certification (CPA, CMA) preferred for ABD candidates. Earned doctoratein Accounting or closely related field required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Full-time accounting experience is desired.
