Berklee Online is hiring a Video Producer to produce high-quality course videos for massive open online courses (MOOCs) offered through Berklee College of Music's online school and partner sites. The position requires preproduction logistics and planning, production directing, and camera, lighting, and sound operation, in addition to postproduction editing and asset management. The Video Producer must be capable of taking a production idea and initiating possible creative scenarios of production and delivery, presenting those ideas effectively, and taking the production through all stages to completion.

The Video Producer will be responsible for preparing and editing video and multitrack audio content from shoot sessions as follows: content will be file wrangled, transcoded as necessary, imported into an NLE, and edited with multiple camera angle choices, titles, and effects. The raw material and the final edited output will be transferred to a digital asset management system and cataloged with appropriate metadata. The content will also be encoded into multiple streaming bandwidths for distribution. The Video Producer will also be involved with training incoming video student employees and managing them in the production process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Planning both studio and location shoots, including location scouting, equipment lists, and equipment packing.
  • Field production, including audio, camera, lighting, and working collaboratively with talent and Curriculum Manager.
  • Asset management, including data collection from camera media, transcoding video and audio files, backing up files to a digital asset management system, making them available for review by the course author and Curriculum Manager, and metadata tagging of files for cataloging.
  • Post-production, including non-linear, professional editing with Adobe Premier and Telestream ScreenFlow, motion graphics creation, color correction, audio mixing, and video compression.
  • Exporting final cuts and uploading them to the Berklee Online content management system and partner platforms.
  • Training student employees.
  • Content output quality assurance.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work on multiple projects simultaneously with great efficiency and attention to detail.

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some nights/weekend as needed.
  • Proven ability to work & lead effectively in a highly diverse campus community.

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated video production expertise, including at least two years of experience in the following areas:
  • Proper operation of video cameras, lights, mikes, audio, and camera support equipment.
  • Digital asset management.
  • Non-linear, professional editing with Adobe Premier and Telestream ScreenFlow.
  • All areas of post-production, including motion graphics creation, color correction, audio mixing, video compression, and online distribution.
  • Knowledge of the online video space (YouTube, Vimeo, Brightcove).
  • Knowledge of tapeless cameras and tapeless camera workflows.
  • Familiarity with music theory, music business, and music production technologies.
