Manhattan College seeks an experienced, innovative, and collaborative leader with the vision and skills to advance the School of Education and Health to new levels of academic excellence. Encompassing four departments, the School of Education and Health offers undergraduate programs in adolescent education, childhood education, dual childhood/special education, physical education, allied health, exercise science, nuclear medicine technology, radiation therapy technology, and radiologic technology, as well as graduate programs in special education, counseling, school building leadership, and educational technology.
Reporting to the provost, the dean provides leadership and support for strategic planning and policy formation, faculty development, faculty personnel matters as they relate to hiring, promotion and tenure, curriculum development strategies to enhance teaching and learning, budget, student development, academic advising, accreditation, and assessment. Responsible for maintaining the School of Education and Health’s strong reputation, the dean is expected to provide a broad vision for the education and health within the context of the College’s tradition, which places special emphasis on values-based education and on learning that engages and encourages students to cross traditional boundaries, exploring connections between the liberal arts and sciences, engineering, education, and business.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or equivalent academic credential, an outstanding record of accomplishment in teaching, research, and professional service, and will have achieved the rank of full professor. In addition, he/she will have had significant academic leadership experience with a minimum of at least four years as a department chair or higher. The successful applicant must represent the school’s academic programs effectively to the public, media, alumni/ae, donors, regulators, accreditors, and the Manhattan College Board of Trustees.

The position is available beginning July 1, 2016.
