As a part of Student Engagement and Wellness at Metropolitan State University of Denver, the Dean of Students Office is committed to student safety and well-being by fostering a university community of integrity and respect. The office houses student conduct, student conflict resolution services, coordinates the CARE Team (behavioral intervention team), manages Title IX cases with student respondents, and provides generalized support and referrals for students in crisis. The Title IX Investigator/Student Conduct Specialist is an integral part of the Dean of Students Office team.
This position serves as the primary investigator for alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct, including sexual misconduct claims involving sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking. This position is not that of an advocate; rather it serves as an unbiased investigator. This position does not serve as the Title IX Coordinator.
Conduct all student respondent sexual misconduct investigations following the Office of Civil Rights guidelines on such investigations.
Conduct investigations of other student conduct policy violation allegations, as referred by the Student Conduct Coordinator.
Maintain all documentation of investigations.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality on all proceedings.
Present findings to the Student Conduct Coordinator and the Title IX Coordinator in report format.
Track reportable sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking and campus training events for the annual Campus Security Report.
Attend appropriate trainings and stay current on all changes to Title IX, the Clery Act, VAWA and any other applicable legislation or regulations.
Conduct training for all recognized Campus Security Authorities on their reporting obligation under the Campus Security report for sexual assault and misconduct.
Assist in the development of training materials and programs for all students on the sexual misconduct policy and the reporting process. Note: this role will not be the primary educator on sexual misconduct prevention, but rather provide support and supervision to those who develop and implement the training.
Recommend appropriate changes and updates to the University’s sexual harassment and sexual misconduct policies.
Advise complainants and respondents of their rights.
Refer all parties as needed to appropriate support resources.
Support the overall functions of the Office of Student Engagement and Wellness/Dean of Students Office.
Other duties as assigned.
Completed master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in social work, human services, education, criminal justice, pre-law, or related field is required.
Three years’ professional experience utilizing interviews to gather information to determine outcomes. Examples might include conducting confidential investigations, case assessment, or case management,
Experience developing and maintaining detailed case documentation and report writing.
Experience conducting record keeping and maintaining documentation in compliance with rules of confidentiality.
Excellent written communication skills.
Understanding of sexual violence and related interpersonal dynamics.
Ability to maintain a high level of impartiality and professionalism at all times.
Demonstrated experience developing and delivering outreach materials, programs and/or presentations.
Knowledge of the Office of Civil Rights guidelines regarding sexual misconduct investigations.
knowledge or training on Title IX, the Clery Act, and VAWA and other regulations surrounding conduct.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
