Detailed Job Description

The landscape architecture program at Washington State University in Pullman,WA seeks an instructor or instructors to teach a junior level studio (LA 363) and/or a junior level LA design/build course (LA 367) in the 2016 spring semester. Candidates may apply to teach one or both courses. Start date is January 1, 2016.

The theme of the junior year curriculum is “communities+building+regions.” Coursework reinforces and extends students’ understanding of the field of landscape architecture, and emphasizes the integration of theory, practice, and construction. Studios focus on design for communities in the broadest ecological sense, where a community is a group of interdependent organisms of different species growing or living together in a specified habitat. During the junior year, students additionally consider and build upon the interactions among the multiple communities that make a region.

Professional site design processes; concentration on recreation facilities and site planning within residential, urban, institutional, and regional projects.

Lnd_Arch 367 is scheduled TU from 13.25-17
Supplemental projects in cost estimating, specifications, construction detailing, and landscape architectural design/build.

Required Qualifications

A landscape architecture degree OR degree in a related field OR substantial professional experience in landscape architecture or a related field at the time of hire.

Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: infrastructure, emerging digital technologies, landscape design-build, urban+regional dynamics, urban-rural interfaces, construction methods and materials.

Knowledge of and experience using AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

MLA or related graduate degree by the hire date.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching design studio and/or landscape design/build.

Demonstrated excellence in landscape architectural design practice.

Advanced 3D modeling capabilities.

The School of Design and Construction (SDC), formed in July 2012, is the result of a merger of existing programs in Architecture, Construction Management, Interior Design, and Landscape Architecture.
