Frostburg State University, Department of Biology, seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor of Biology (Ecologist/Quantitative Herpetologist) position to begin Fall 2016. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits package.
Responsibilities: Teach General Ecology, Herpetology, Quantitative Analysis of Vertebrate Populations, General Zoology, and other courses in area of expertise. Establish an active research program involving both graduate and undergraduate students. Duties will include student advising, professional development activities, and service to the Department, College, and community.
Minimum Qualifications: ABD in a natural resource-based discipline may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor. Coursework and research focused on wildlife conservation and ecology. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in a natural resource-based discipline preferred and required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Strong background in university-level teaching. Post-doctoral research experience. Quantitative ecology skills. Interest in developing an externally-funded research program focused on herptofauna (particularly amphibians) in the Appalachian Region.
