Detailed Job Description

Under general direction, assists in designing and implementing studies; assists in data collection; provides assistance in preparation of grants, manuscripts and other reports; may direct research technicians; may be required to perform independent field work and other specific duties and responsibilities tailored to meet project needs.

Knowledge of computer statistical software and database software and languages
Knowledge of research field-related terminology
Interpersonal/human relation skills
Written and verbal communication skills
Supervisory skills
Ability to recruit diverse populations to participate in research studies
Ability to manage work schedule independently and in a timely manner
Willingness to chance exposure to infectious agents

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in physical or natural science, public health, health education, or other health/science discipline; supplemented with a strong interest in research.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in designing and implementing research studies; performs independent research and conducts fieldwork as needed; develops liaisons with community groups and provides prevention education.

Conducts literature searches on computer-based health databases; assists in data collection; performs computer-based statistical analysis of data; tracks activities.

Provides writing and editorial assistance in the preparation of grants, manuscripts, and other reports; assists with development of brochures and educational materials; performs clerical work as needed.

Supervises and trains research technicians as directed by the supervisor; may oversee volunteers.

Performs other duties as assigned
