The Director serves as administrator-in-charge of Student Publications and, in that role, is responsible for developing, managing and supervising an effective program of day-to-day activities that are consistent with the organization’s goals and objectives.
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Masters degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in advertising, journalism, mass communication or related field.
Management experience in both news and advertising.
Five (5) years of experience in newspaper reporting, editing, and/or advertising sales.
Evidence of success in newspaper field such as awards in writing and advertising competitions.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet demands of students, including nights and weekends.
