Job Purpose: Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director, Admissions Operations, works collaboratively in a regional team that includes four Assistant Directors or other manager, focusing on targeted enrollment objectives for the designated regions. Is responsible for processing, counseling and managing international applications in assigned caseload and ensuring proper student visa preparation. Is responsible for clearly communicating necessary academic documents required to submit an application as well as communicating visa procedures to these students. Counsels prospects, applicants and enrolling students as appropriate. Ensures that application services to prospective students are executed in a manner that fully supports the Comprehensive Enrollment Strategy as approved by the Dean.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
INTERNATIONAL APPLICATION PROCESS – Oversees work-study processing of new applications. Provides quality control step of checking over each processed application and counsels applicants on incomplete files. Manages TOEFL and credential evaluation process and policies. Determines which applications are complete by researching and authenticating foreign academic documents submitted from individual country academic systems. Researches institutions to determine whether students are required to submit international transcripts through a credential evaluation company.
Evaluates and provides a detailed academic assessment for all international applicants for Board of Admission review. This assessment impacts an applicant’s eligibility for admission as one of the three Primary Quality Rating components used for selection by the Board of Admissions.
Identifies special or highly qualified applicants and tags them as such in the admissions system.
Provides technical support when necessary to applicants and enrolling students.
INFORMATION ADVISING AND COUNSELING – Advises international applicants and admitted students, prospects and their families, concerning college programs, application procedures, interview and audition policies, procedures for scholarships, housing and other pertinent topics via phone, in person, and in writing. Provides options on how to finance their education at Berklee. Counsels applicants and admitted students on alternative options for getting to Berklee.
CUSTOMER SERVICE – Upholds a high level of customer service to maintain applicant satisfaction during the entire admissions process, from the prospect level to matriculation.
CORRESPONDENCE – Responds to questions and clarifies misunderstandings concerning the application process and the academic materials submitted through matriculation. Provides special letters upon request for admitted students seeking additional documentation for outside funding and visa purposes. Conducts business communication with home country institutions such as military services, banks, and scholarship organizations as needed.
APPLICANT UPDATES – Processes incoming mail by assigned caseload that arrive separate from the student’s application. Updates the Admissions system and sends response accordingly.
APPLICANT STATUS CHANGES – Processes any students withdrawing, changing semesters, reactivating to a new semester, completing deferral requests, requesting reevaluation, processes audition reschedule requests, within assigned caseload. Includes sending appropriate letter depending on applicant's status. Counsels admitted students on the re-audition for scholarship process.
FOLLOW-UPS – Responsible for regular follow-ups with applicants and admitted students within assigned caseload including missing information required in order to complete the application and matriculation process. Manages immunization form processing and counseling, determines proof of high school graduation. Provides matriculation assessments for the Office of Admission based on required documents received and correspondence with student.
SUPPORT SERVICES – Supports Admissions with special projects as assigned.
TRANSFER CREDIT – Determines whether a college transcript or Advanced Placement scores are official and coordinates entering student transfer credits with Registrar's office by assigned caseload. Provides general advising for transfer credit and participates in transfer credit advising workshops.
OPERATIONS TEAM – Serves as a member of the Operations Team, regularly updating processing and correspondence policies to better serve the extensive quantity of applicants and to prepare timely delivery of completed applications to the Board of Admissions. Also maintains familiarity with the application, scholarship, audition, Board of Admissions processes, and procedures and policies of all Enrollment offices, including technology resources.

Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills to answer telephone inquiries, provide assistance to prospective students, applicants and parents, and represent the College in public forums.
Strong writing skills and computer skills, including database file and advanced word processing use.
Strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize numerous tasks. Ability to maintain accurate, detailed and orderly records.
Proven ability to work & lead effectively in a highly diverse campus community.
3-5 years of experience in admissions, international student services or related field.
Bachelor's degree required.
Knowledge of international student issues evidenced by familiarity with immigration laws and study in other countries and/or knowledge of world geography and cultures.
Some knowledge of music and Berklee Curriculum preferred.
Experience in customer service oriented position (college environment preferred).
