The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of La Verne is seeking two principal faculty for its developing Masters in Physician Assistant Program. One position will serve in dual capacity of principal faculty and academic coordinator. In addition to the principal faculty responsibilities, the academic coordinator will plan, manage and coordinate the academic pre-clinical portion of the PA program and recruit, develop, and retain qualified instructional faculty to deliver specialized content in courses scheduled throughout the curriculum. In order to adhere to accreditation guidelines, one of these two positions must be held by PA faculty who is currently NCCPA certified. Both principal faculty members will assist with the development, preparation and implementation of the program that is necessary for program accreditation. Principal faculty members deliver the academic pre-clinical portion of the PA curriculum, and teach in areas of expertise; participate in admissions activities and provide advising and academic counseling of students. Principal faculty members also help develop and teach courses in both the academic and clinical years of the program and participate in all aspects of the program and program assessment. Principal faculty members report to the Director of the PA program. Both positions are integral in the development of the Physician Assistant Program and its accreditation. These are full-time, tenure track positions at the assistant professor level, beginning Fall 2016.

The College of Arts and Sciences seeks someone with at least a Master’s degree from an accredited university and preferably a Doctoral degree. The ideal candidate should have 2 years of full time clinical experience, one should hold a current NCCPA certification (or eligibility), current licensure (or eligibility) to practice in the State of California, experience in Physician Assistant education, knowledge of ARC-PA standards, ability to travel, network and interact professionally with students, faculty and staff and clinical partners and preceptors, knowledge of curriculum and course development, and a commitment to community service and diversity. Student advising and committee work is required, as well as maintaining a record of scholarship and professional activities to assure program and university visibility.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree or greater from an accredited university
• Current NCCPA certification (or eligibility)
• Current unrestricted licensure (or eligibility) to practice in the state of California
• Must be eligible to work in the United States
• Excellent oral, written and computer skills.
• Ability to travel
• Ability to network and interact professionally with students, faculty and staff and clinical partners and preceptors.
• Knowledge of ARC-PA standards
• Knowledge of Curriculum and Course development
• Commitment to community service and diversity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of full time clinical experience
• Experience in Physician Assistant education
• Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
• Research
• Doctorate degree or currently pursuing a doctorate degree
