The University of Washington invites nominations and applications for the position of Chancellor of the University of Washington Bothell (UW Bothell). One of three University of Washington campuses (along with the original campus in Seattle and the University of Washington Tacoma), UW Bothell is a dynamic, rapidly growing center of innovative, interdisciplinary knowledge in the high-tech corridor of north Puget Sound.
Founded in 1990, UW Bothell was created to bring the world-renowned University of Washington traditions of academic excellence to residents of the greater metropolitan area, and to be a catalyst for creativity in one of the most dynamic regions of the United States. The campus now enrolls a diverse population of over 4,100 undergraduate and graduate students, employs 151 full-time faculty, and offers over 30 programs of study. Located 18 miles northeast of Seattle, UW Bothell is dedicated to interdisciplinary and innovative teaching, scholarship, and research; is actively building a vibrant and culturally diverse campus community; and is committed to engaging the regional non-profit, business and technology sectors in collaborative and mutually beneficial partnerships.
The Chancellor serves as chief executive officer of UW Bothell and is responsible for developing and articulating the UW Bothell strategic vision, fostering and enriching the academic and professional climate, and setting the course for its continued growth. The candidate is also responsible for overseeing the academic, operational, and external functions of the UW Bothell campus while simultaneously serving as an active member of the University of Washington leadership team in shaping the future of an evolving three-campus university.
Candidates should have an earned doctorate and a distinguished record of teaching and research appropriate to an appointment at the rank of full professor. The successful candidate must have the necessary leadership skills and creative vision needed to guide the UW Bothell campus through ongoing growth and development while fostering continued academic excellence and a commitment to collaboration and diversity. The candidate will possess experience in high-level academic administration at a comparable university or college, ideally within a multi-campus environment; excellent community relations and constituent building experience; and superior financial management, strategic planning, and fundraising skills.
