Job Description:


Under the direction of the Project Manager of the NSF Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S-STEM) Environment, Engineering, Sustainability Science Student Success Scholarships (E2S5) grant, the Academic Coach will coach, and mentor approximately 20 E2S5 scholars each semester and coordinate with faculty and others on supportive interventions if the scholars become academically at risk. Under the direction of the Dean of Engineering, Math, Nursing and Science, the Academic coach will contribute to grant reporting and outcomes.


  • Work with relevant credit dean, to help facilitate student support
  • Provide additional academic  coaching, course and career planning  to E2S5 Scholars in coordination and support of the students' primary discipline specific academic advisers
  • Proactively reach out to E2S5 Scholars to meet individually and/or in groups to support student refinement of  time and work management skills, mastery of course expectations, and keeping  their studies well on track
  • Work with Project Manager to develop and run academic support workshops and activities for E2S5 Scholars.
  • Maintain regular office hours;
  • Collaborate with the faculty members of students in the program;
  • Work with Project Manager to contribute to evaluation, and reporting to ensure compliance with all terms and conditions of the NSF S-STEM E2S5 grant.



  • Master degree in a STEM or relevant academic support field
  • Three years of experience as an Academic Advisor and/or coach
  • Knowledge of the STEM fields and STEM field pedagogy
  • Successful experience collaborating with faculty
  • Experience in a community college setting


  • Experience in enabling the support of faculty in the development of STEM curricula;
  • Commitment to the mission of the community college;
  • Successful experience teaching STEM related classes at the college level.
