The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine http://cmm.ucsd.edu within the School of Medicine at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking an exceptional scientist for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, although applicants at the Associate and Full Professor levels may also be considered. Applicants need to have a Ph.D., M.D. or combined M.D./Ph.D., and will be expected to develop a state-of-the-art independent research program in an area of science relevant to human disease. Assistant-level candidates will be expected to show evidence of their career potential through letters of recommendation and a publication record appropriate for their experience. Associate-level candidates must show evidence of a strong independent research record in their specialization, and candidates at the Full Professor level must show evidence of a strong research record with a national and/or international reputation. The applicant is also expected to teach and perform research training of medical and graduate students as well as University service.
Successful candidates will also demonstrate strong or potential accomplishments in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
Applicants at the Assistant Professor level must submit a curriculum vitae and cover letter. The cover letter should contain a brief summary of the proposal, written for a general science audience, highlighting why the research is important and interesting and the applicant's unique qualifications to pursue this project. Additional required documents at the Assistant professor level include a statement of current and proposed research (not to exceed five pages total), and three letters of recommendation, along with a separate statement summarizing past or potential contributions to diversity (See http://facultyequity.ucsd.edu/Faculty-Applicant-C2D-Info.asp for further information about contributions to diversity statements). Applicants at the Associate and Full Professor levels must submit a curriculum vitae and a separate diversity statement.
