The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at Boston University College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College invites applications for the position of Department Chair. We are seeking an individual with strong leadership skills, an established research program, and a professional vision consistent with emerging health care practice patterns who will build on the Department’s tradition of excellence in physical therapy, athletic training, and rehabilitation sciences with respect to education, practice, and scholarship.
The Chair represents the Department within the University as well as locally, nationally, and internationally. He/she is a member of the Sargent College Administrative Advisory Council and works directly with the Dean. The Chair collaborates with the PT&AT program directors to ensure effective delivery of the academic programs; he/she is responsible for strategic planning, faculty development and evaluation, coordination of departmental goals and resources.
This is a full-time tenured faculty position at the Associate/Full Professor level. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum qualifications include:
The Department is housed within a vibrant academic and research community including Boston University, the BU Medical Campus and the metro Boston area. Our programs include an undergraduate degree in Health Studies (preparatory to the DPT) as well as professional programs in Physical Therapy and an MS in Athletic Training that will launch in fall 2016. Research faculty also participate in the interdisciplinary PhD program in Rehabilitation Sciences. Our post-professional offerings include a Neurologic PT Residency and an Orthopaedic Manual PT Fellowship program. The Department houses the NIDRR Rehabilitation Research and Training Center in Arthritis, the Center for Neurorehabilitation, the Human Adaptation lab, the Barreca Motion Analysis Lab and the BU Physical Therapy Center.
