Under the direction of the English/Literature Department, the Assistant Professor – English/Literature designs and teaches four courses per semester (teaching assignments will be composition courses and creative writing or literature courses as departmental circumstances require). Serves on department, college, and university committees. Maintains currency in academic field(s) of expertise; produces creative work; engages in professional development activities; and, assists in curriculum and program development.
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. PhD/ABD in Creative Writing.
Knowledge and experience in teaching courses in creative writing, English composition, and literature.
Knowledge of principles and methodologies of teaching of subject matter and course content.
Knowledge in curriculum development and instructional strategies and techniques in education.
Skills and experience in teaching first-year composition, introductory creative writing, intermediate fiction or poetry writing, and other courses in his or her area of specialty.
Ability to develop and actively pursue scholarly and/or creative projects, and contribute to department, college, and university through dependable work on assigned committees.
