Responsible for the coordination of administrative functions for the Human Resources Department and entails meeting regular deadlines and handling special projects as needed. Works closely with the AVP, Human Resources, HR Business Partners, and Compensation and Benefits team to ensure the duties and responsibilities of this position are being met. These include having a focused and disciplined approach with an eye toward compliance with HR policies, regulations, laws and other procedures, driving for results, delivering excellent customer service, emphasizing communication, recognition, teamwork and collaboration, seeking ways to support and develop standardized processes and common procedures, and an unwavering attention to growth and development in self and internal clients.
Supports recruitment efforts for all exempt and non-exempt personnel, students and temporary employees; processes background checks and develops offer letters
Process new employees, collect new hire paperwork and other documentation; process and verify I-9 documentation
Conduct new hire orientation, and answer employee questions relating to various payroll, benefits, and HR issues.
Maintains all employee files and ensures compliance
Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions, greets and assists visitors
Files papers and documents into appropriate employee files; copies, scans, faxes, and performs other clerical functions
Assists with special events and/or projects such as training programs, annual benefits enrollment, employee recognition, Christmas party, Pride Leader program etc. as needed
Other duties as assigned
Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in human resources or closely related field required
Two to four years of experience in human resources or related field preferably in post-secondary education or other field with large employee base and strong external customer service requirements (e.g. healthcare, retail, financial services, etc.)
