The NASAD accredited Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Jewelry and Metalsmithing in a Tenure-Track position. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of various traditional and innovative jewelry and metalsmithing techniques and the ability to teach all levels of undergraduate study. The successful candidate will be familiar with jewelry and metalsmithing history, as well as contemporary critical issues in the field with an understanding of related interdisciplinary practices. Candidates with demonstrated commitment to innovative pedagogical strategies including but not limited to digital design and fabrication techniques, teaching interdisciplinary coursework and professional practices are highly desirable.
Responsibilities include teaching 3 studio courses per semester in jewelry and metalsmithing and other courses offered by the department as determined by candidate’s qualifications; professional development; service to the university and community; advising students; curriculum development.
MFA in Studio Art or Jewelry and Metalsmithing, or a closely related field.

Three years of college level teaching experience beyond graduate teaching assistantship
Demonstrated technical proficiency in advanced jewelry and/or metalworking skills
Substantial record of achievement in art and/or design field and an active exhibition record
Experience advising students in an academic setting
Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student population including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners
