Saint Mary’s College invites applications for a Director of Institutional Research to lead and manage a comprehensive institutional research program that supports the College’s mission, traditions, values and strategic initiatives.

The Director reports to the Provost and is responsible for leading, designing, collecting, analyzing, reporting and distributing accurate and timely College-wide academic and administrative data to inform and support College decision makers.  She/he identifies, creates and implements an institutional research program and tools appropriate to each situation;  has broad understanding of contemporary issues affecting higher education institutions and their relevance for Saint Mary’s College;  and works closely with and supports the institutional research needs of the President, Provost, Vice Presidents, Vice Provosts and other senior administrators to ensure that the College’s institutional research goals and objectives are successfully addressed.  The successful Director engages in continual learning and professional development to meet the growing demands of the position and supports the mission of the College, which is informed, animated, and expressed through its Catholic, Lasallian, and Liberal Arts traditions.

Specific duties of the Director include preparing and managing the annual budget for Institutional Research;  hiring and supervising staff; preparing, coordinating, and distributing internal and external research data;  and conducting research that enhances the Saint Mary’s College experience for students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and others associated with the College.  The Director serves as an expert on designing and analyzing research efforts conducted by College offices, departments or units. 

Experience and Qualifications:

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in education, psychology, social science or related field and at least five (5) years experience in institutional research, research or survey design, quantitative research or data analysis in higher education institutions or in similar settings.  PhD highly desirable.
