Detailed Job Description

Under the supervision of the Student Affairs Business Manager, the Information Services Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking assistance from the Information Desk and kiosk systems. The information Services Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation of the information des and kiosk systems including responsibility for providing direction and information to students, staff, faculty, and visitors. The Information Services Coordinator upholds strong customer service standards for appearance, greetings, phone calls, and expedient customer response.

In addition the Information Services Coordinator will have a good working knowledge of current and upcoming events on campus, disseminate general college and Boston area information, give out campus directions, welcome guests to Berklee, and manage practice room reservations and access. The Information Services Coordinator will supervise a team of approximately 30 work-study students and support front line customer service across the division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Greet visitors and provide accurate information as requested by visitors and over the phone.
  2. Create and facilitate an open and engaging learning environment for a team of approximately 30 work study students.
  3. Supervise, train, schedule and evaluate student staff to maintain desk coverage Monday – Friday 8am-11:30pm, Sat-Sun 8:30am-11:30pm. Holiday coverage is from 8:00am-6:00pm.
  4. Collaborate with Customer Service Coordinator to supervise, schedule and evaluate student staff to maintain switchboard coverage Monday-Friday 8:00am-6pm and answer switchboard calls at the front desk
  5. Disseminate information on events, policies, and procedures to student employees and weekend staff.
  6. Develop and maintain front desk systems for practice rooms, student employee timesheets, shift logs, and residence hall guest passes.
  7. Perform period rounds of the practice rooms to monitor use and enforce regulations/usage.
  8. Attend Front Line Association meetings.
  9. Keep Lobby Area neat and clean of unauthorized postings, flyers, and tabling items.
  10. Cover CDC, CAC, and OVPSA front desks as needed.
  11. Be attentive to the safety and security of the 142 Lobby and practice rooms.
  12. Open/Close partitions based on reservations to the Student Affairs conference rooms and assist with reservations for students seeking to reserve these spaces.
  13. Inform Drum and Piano Departments of any equipment maintenance needs that may arise.
  14. Keep Student Affairs programming and conference room spaces neat and clean.

Required Skills

Required Experience

  • 2+ years front line customer service experience
  • High School Diploma
